New York Times bestselling author of The Night Huntress series Jeaniene Frost returns with a brand-new series! It’s Beauty and the Beast meets The Witcher, except Beauty IS the Beast, and he’s the Warden keeping mythical beings in check in our world and beyond. Raine Stone is living a nightmare. Ever since she survived the attack that killed her family, she's been hiding a terrible secret--and a Beast inside her. It feeds on violence and chaos, but she restrains its urges by playing vigilante on the city streets. Until one night, Raine uses the Beast’s energy to heal an elderly gentleman from a seemingly random attack and discovers a new world of danger—literally. Remington “Remy” Byrne knows the wall between a realm of deadly mythic creatures and our own world is very fragile. After all, he’s the Warden who guards the gateways between them. Raine’s Beast contains power that could tip the scales in a sinister plot against Remy’s rule—if she allies with him. Will they be friends or foes…or will their dangerous attraction turn into something else? And can our world be saved by their explosive alliance? At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

A new world with a few familiar elements…

I had high expectations for A Curse of Beasts and Magic, and Jeaniene Frost more than delivered! As a long-standing queen of the vampire romance genre, Frost has shifted into the “Dark Romantasy” realm. With a few mythical creatures, and a small nod to Beauty and the Beast, A Curse of Beasts and Magic is a flawless comeback for Frost.

Raine is the beast! Not some man who is cuter as a beast than a human (yes, the movie got that wrong). I loved that our heroine was the person who contained a beast. One so powerful and rare that everyone has a healthy dose of fear and respect for Raine. She became beastly against her will, but she learns to manage its evil nature for a greater cause. She manages to learn control on her own without the knowledge of any other magical creatures in the world.

Does he save her though? Yes/no. You can decide who saves whom. Remington (love that for a first name) is guardian of the creatures and gateways between worlds in the region where Raine lives. She’s broken quite a few rules just by living in his territory. Grounds for punishment, naturally. Yet, she inadvertently helped him when she exposed herself as a beast. The least a guardian could do is say thank you and return the favor. Believe me when I say that he more than returns the favor.
