A ruthless fire vampire. An unsuspecting human. A bargain that will cost them everything.

Tatyana Vorona has no idea that she just made a deal with a vampire. When the naïve human bookkeeper offers to help locate embezzled funds for a wealthy CEO, she doesn't realize she's being set up as bait.

Oleg Sokolov is a fire vampire as ancient as he is vicious. It's bad enough that his daughter stole money from him, but now she's sought refuge with one of his bitter rivals. He wants her back under his control, and he doesn't mind using Tatyana to draw her out.

But as Oleg spends more time with Tatyana, he begins to want her for more than just revenge. When Tatyana is attacked, Oleg is forced to reveal his true nature to save her. Can he convince her to stay in his bloody world when he's the reason she's in danger?

“She was taking a chance. It was reckless, but she’d tried being cautious in her life and what had happened?”

Elizabeth Hunter’s spin-off series, The Firebird and the Wolf, is a smokin’ hot (no pun intended) addition to her wildly popular Elemental Universe. In Book 1, Blood Mosaic, we finally get more of Oleg Sokolov, the enigmatic and darkly sexy fire vampire we were introduced to in previous books. Fire vampires are few and far between for good reason and Oleg did not gain control without living up to that reputation. When his daughter betrays him he will do whatever it takes to retrieve what she stole and seek retribution even if it means using the human accountant, Tatyana Vorona, whom she also swindled. But revenge might just have to take a backseat when he finds himself inexplicably attracted to the highly intelligent and attractive, Tatyana. Little does Tatyana know that her attempts to recoup what is owed to her to help her make a better life for her mother might very well cost her own life.

EH snared me with the cover of Blood Mosaic but that was just the start. It didn’t take me long to know that this would be a five star read! EH knows how to write a fast-paced storyline that keeps you turning page after page. She is also masterful at creating characters with depth and personality. Oleg and Tatyana are no different and I loved how perfectly she revealed them to us throughout the book. I’m also a huge fan of how she wrote Blood Mosaic from a dual point of view, which allows us a better insight to each of the main characters, and the way she wove and built the attraction between the story leads. Oleg and Tatyana create friction from the moment they meet and it builds in such a palpable way. But, this is just book one so be prepared that their story is only just beginning and the ending of this book will definitely have you wanting the next installment out ASAP!

EH is a well of creativity as evident by the vast array of stories she has created over the years. The Elemental Universe, set in the present day is a world where vampires walk among humans, includes over 25 books in a number of different series. These immortal beings control a network of corporations that are dispersed among vampire territories spanning the globe each controlled by powerful vampires. Oleg is a Russian vampire who controls an ancient territory in eastern Europe, a fascinating backdrop for Blood Mosaic. This book kicks-off another great series in this universe that is unique in both its plot and cast. Oleg and Tatyana’s story has so much room for growth that I hope we see it expanding over a number of books. If Blood Mosaic is any indication this series will be another must read for me.
